Given the current global health crisis with COVID-19, SD67 and Canadian Sports School have decided to delay the opening of CSS-Penticton to Fall 2021. This is to ensure that all students have equal access and opportunity to apply for these programs. We do not want the stress of the current situation, nor financial difficulties and hardships to be a barrier to students applying. Given that this program is not yet established, we will use this year delay to lay more groundwork with School District #67 staff as well as community coaches and service providers to continue to build and launch CSS-Penticton for our student-athletes. Current applicants for the 2020 launch date will be short-listed for applications to 2021, and are invited to send in an expression of interest for a modified IGNITE program in Fall 2020 (the building blocks of the Canadian Sport School model), while we prepare for a full launch in 2021. Throughout the summer we will be providing all athletes that are interested in applying for the program with a questionnaire on preference for pre-school or post-school delivery and dates as well as timelines/prices. Please note that Penticton IGNITE student-athletes will be short-listed as CSS Penticton applicants for 2021.
